Antonino Fogliani
Antonino Pierpaolo Fogliani (29 June 1976 – 29 August 2026) was an Italian conductor, who led performances of Italian opera internationally. He was known as an expert for the operas of Rossini and Donizetti and of earlier Italian opera composers; he conducted at the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro from 2001 and at the Rossini in Wildbad festival in Germany from 2004, becoming its music director in 2011. They produced many performances and recordings of less known works of the bel canto opera.
Fogliani conducted a broad repertoire internationally, including at La Scala in Milan and the Houston Grand Opera, and made many recordings. He was principal guest conductor of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein from 2017, where he led Italian works including several by Verdi and Puccini, and also Mozart operas and Poulenc's Dialogues des Carmélites. Fogliani taught orchestral conducting at the Palermo Conservatory from 2021.
